Technical Information.
The Uni-Tel VoIP gateway provides voice and fax services through your
IP network by means of the SIP protocol. It connects to the Internet via
static or dynamic IP addresses and can even perform ADSL dial up if needed.
It provides analogue ports for connecting your telephone hand piece as
well as ports for connecting analogue telephone or PABX lines. The gateway
can be utilized in a variety of ways connecting to analogue telephone
lines and hand pieces as well as PABX line and trunk ports.
Below follows a schematic view of a four port Uni-Tel VoIP Gateway.

The Uni-Tel VoIP Gateway Connects As Follows:
Power Connector to Power Adaptor
Tel 1 and Tel 2 to Analogue telephone handset
Line 1 and Line 2 to Analogue telephone line

Below Are A Few Examples Of How The Uni-Tel VoIP Gateway Can Be Utilized
In Practice.
Basic Office Or Home Use.
The Uni-Tel VoIP gateway can convert any analogue telephone set to a VoIP
phone using your existing ADSL line.
The following is needed:
- ADSL line.
- ADSL modem.
- Analogue telephone handset

- Analogue Telephone Connects to Tel port on VoIP gateway.
- WAN port on VoIP gateway connects to ADSL modem.
The analogue phone can now make and receive VoIP calls via the Uni-Tel
VoIP gateway.
Small Office Use.
Your existing analogue telephone line can be integrated with the Uni-Tel
VoIP gateway to greatly reduce your telecommunication costs while still
being accessible on the normal telephone network. You can now make and
receive calls to and from any VOIP device on the Uni-Tel network as well
as any normal phone or mobile phone anywhere in the world.
The following is needed:
- ADSL line
- ADSL Modem
- Normal Telephone line or PABX
- Analogue telephone hand sets

- Analogue telephones connect to Tel ports on VoIP Gateway.
- Analogue telephone lines connect to Line ports on VOIP Gateway.
- ADSL modem connects to WAN port on VOIP gateway.
Medium Office Use.
The Uni-Tel VoIP gateway can integrate your existing small PABX with the
world on IP telephony. You can now make and receive calls to and from
any VoIP device on the Uni-Tel network as well as any normal phone or mobile
phone anywhere in the world and still keep the functionality of your existing
analogue PABX.
The following is needed:
- Internet Connectivity - ADSL or Leased Line.
- Existing analogue PABX.
- Analogue Telephone Handsets.

- WAN port on VOIP Gateway connects to Internet Connection.
- Line Port on VOIP Gateway connects to Analogue Telephone lines.
- Tel Port on VOIP connects to Trunk Port on

The Uni-Tel VOIP gateway can greatly reduce telecommunication cost between
remote offices. This can be achieved without modifying or replacing your
existing analogue PABX system.
The following is needed:
- Uni-Tel VOIP gateway for every office.
- Internet Connectivity.
- WAN ports on Uni-Tel VoIP gateway connects to the Internet.
- Ext 205 and 206 connects to Line ports on Uni-Tel VoIP gateway.
A person in the Johannesburg office that wishes to call the London Office
just dials ext 205. The Uni-Tel VoIP gateway routes the call through the
Uni-Tel VoIP network over the Internet to the London Office's VoIP Gateway.
The VoIP gateway in the London office routes the call to the switchboard.
Remote Local Presence.
The Uni-Tel VoIP gateway can be used to divert incoming telephone calls
in one location to any device on Uni-Tel's VoIP network. This makes it
possible to have the appearance of a local office by giving your customers
a local number to contact you on which saves the customer money and saves
you on infrastructure and personnel costs.
The following is needed:
- Uni-Tel VoIP gateway for remote office.
- Internet connectivity
- Uni-Tel VoIP device in local office (Uni-Tel Gateway Phone).

The Uni-Tel VoIP gateway in the Johannesburg Office is programmed to forward
all incoming calls from the normal telephone line to the Uni-Tel Gateway
Phone in the London office.
Remote Access Calling.
The Uni-Tel VoIP gateway can be remotely accessed via any normal telephone
or mobile phone to make VoIP or low cost International calls.
The following is needed:
- Normal telephone line.
- Internet connectivity for Uni-Tel VoIP Gateway.
- Uni-Tel VoIP Gateway connects to the Internet via ADSL Modem.
- Uni-Tel VoIP Gateway is programmed for remote access.
- The caller calls the number assigned to the analogue telephone line.
- The Uni-Tel VoIP gateway answers the call with a voice prompt.
- The caller enters a pin number and is allowed to make a new call.
