Uni-Tel Gateway Phone

Technical Information
The Uni-Tel Gateway Phone is extremely easy to set up and use. Once it is programmed with an IP address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway address you can start making calls. It is compatible with both static IP addressing and DHCP; it can even work on a virtual IP address. All that is required for the Uni-Tel Gateway Phone to work is Internet connectivity. This can be achieved by using a normal dial up modem (PC or Laptop needed), Basic Rate ISDN line, ADSL line, leased line ext.

Below is a schematic view as seen from the rear. Always connect the Uni-Tel Gateway Phone as follows:

Below follows examples of how the Uni-Tel Gateway Phone can be connected.

Analogue Dial up Modem
In order to connect the Uni-Tel Gateway Phone to an analogue dial up modem the following equipment is necessary.

- Analogue Telephone line
- Analogue Dial up Modem
- Laptop or PC
- Network Interface Card (NIC)

Internet connection sharing needs to be enabled on the dial up connection properties for the NIC installed in the PC or Laptop.

Connect as per the diagram below:



LAN Connector on Uni-Tel Gateway Phone connects to the NIC installed in PC or Laptop.

ADSL Line
The Uni-Tel Gateway Phone can connect directly to an ADSL modem; it can even be programmed to do ADSL dial up.

The following is needed to connect the Uni-Tel Gateway phone to an ADSL line:
- ADSL line
- ADSL modem

Connect as per the diagram below:



LAN Connector on Uni-Tel Gateway Phone connects directly to ADSL modem. ADSL dial up can also be performed by the Uni-Tel Gateway Phone.

Uni-Tel Gateway Phone as part of a LAN
The Uni-Tel Gateway Phone can be connected on your existing LAN that has Internet connectivity. There is also no need to add LAN points to your existing infrastructure as the Uni-Tel Gateway Phone can share connectivity with a PC.

The following is needed:
- Local Area Network (LAN)
- Internet Connectivity



The LAN connector on a Uni-Tel Gateway Phone connects directly to LAN point. The NIC on a PC connects to the PC Connector on the Uni-Tel Gateway Phone. The PC connected to the Uni-Tel Gateway Phone can then surf the Internet or send and receive e-mail via the Uni-Tel Gateway Phone.
